TDiamondGradientSampler calculates normalized distance $u$ using the Manhattan ($L_1$) distance norm from center $(X_c,Y_c)$ scaled by $R$:

where $(X^{\prime },Y^{\prime })$ is $(X-X_c,Y-Y_c)$ rotated by Angle.
